Time to get on the right TRACK!

Nothing can replace cars. The SMRT incident proves it. It is impossible to rely on one mode of transportation just because it is theoretically the “most efficient”. A Car is not only for the rich. IT’S EVERYONE’S RIGHT. This right is the basic right freedom. To be able to go places at all times regardless of timing. The right to save time to spend it for our loved ones.

The right to choose. How is our situation reflecting the improvement in our lifestyle. High COE forces us to take public transportation, coupled with the increase in Taxi fares and our monopolistic train system…simply make us worst off.

If we are to progress, it should be towards solutions that allow one to travel faster, more comfortably and cheaper. Every single damn thing that is being done goes against that.

Walk through the tunnel due to MRT breakdown

Consider the increase in the amount of taxis plying our roads without passengers contributing to our “efficient” transportation system by causing unnecessary jams on the road and contributing to global warming, just because big corporations can afford to pay the COE and then initiate an increase in taxi fares to cover for it. Not to mention the frankly mind boggling 15.5 hours of peak period surcharge (how is almost 3/4 of a day PEAK period?!).

Reason for the cab fare hike?

And our dearest government is telling us that a public transportation system would be operated more “efficiently” being privatized. Right…… is our government entitled to be less efficient than a private organisation? Yes, I’m ranting, but seriously it’s time for us to acknowledge facts and figures.

Am I an uneducated “nobody” who is ranting? Well, before I’m considered as one by any educated public servant who sees this, let it be known that this nobody who is trying to be the voice of reason is a BSc Economics majoring in finance. If I consider our situation, it’s far from an optimal utility equilibrium. Please dear government of ours, we do not care who you were or what you have done in the past, that does not matter. The present and future is what we have to live for, please get it right.

Telling us things with regards to our employment is a farce when you say that jobs have increased by 3% while unemployment has decreased slightly only means that the jobs have gone to foreigners. I find it insulting that they think we would buy their “positive” statistics that mean nothing positive for the citizens of Singapore.

Autokinetics is started by a group of friends who are all educated and passionate. While some may feel that expressing our feelings on our blog and FB pages is unprofessional, it goes against our ethos to cower under the pretext of profitable professionalism, to speak untruths and to be dishonest. Which is why to date we refuse to sell products that are substandard.

Which is why we consider our customers as friends who can contact us at anytime for help, which is why we treat all customers equal, from the respectable struggling family man to the ‘swimming-in-money’ towkays. Because at Autokinectics we acknowledge that we are all human. Accordingly, we do things, the way it should be.

Have a great Saturday everyone, stay positive, cheers,
-Bryan

At Autokinetics, we believe that we can all do our part in giving back to society. We have purchased a container space and will be filling it with supplies. If you have clothes, food supplies such as tins of biscuits, or medical supplies, please donate them to Autokinetics at our shop at 290 Macpherson Road  within the next 2 weeks. All donations will go towards the relief aid for the flood victims in Thailand. Please donate only items which can still be used and strictly no cash donations. Thank you, your donations will go a long way in helping these flood victims… The Way It Should Be.
